Billy Sheehan
Mr. Big / The Winery Dogs
Billy Sheehan is a bass icon and his first full-time band was Talas, a power trio also featuring Dave Constantino on guitar and Paul Varga on drums. Talas opened up for Van Halen in 1980, which helped Billy land a gig as the bass player in the David Lee Roth Band. In 1988, Billy, along with singer Eric Martin, guitarist Paul Gilbert and drummer Pat Torpey formed Mr. Big. The band enjoyed success with acclaimed albums and high charting hits. Billy has also played on many of Steve Vai's solo albums. Billy released a long-awaited solo album, Compression, and in 2005, he recorded his second solo effort, Cosmic Troubadour. Billy is also the author of a popular series of instructional books and videos, and, even though he has little formal training on the electric bass guitar, has lead bass clinics all around the world and has hosted seminars at the famous Berklee College of Music. As Mr.Big is still huge in Japan, the band embarked on a recent reunion tour of both Japan and the United States. Billy is also featured on the newest Mr.Big Album, What If... Billy is currently a member of The Winery Dogs, alongside Richie Kotzen and Mike Portney.
