Carmine Appice first came into the spotlight with the band Vanilla Fudge in the late 1960s. Vanilla Fudge was featured on shows like The Ed Sullivan Show and American Bandstand. In 1970, Carmine went on to form Cactus with bassist Tim Bogert. Cactus was hailed by critics as "The American Led Zeppelin". Carmine became known worldwide for his astonishing live performances. He also became a highly sought-after session drummer, recording with countless artists. As an educator, Carmine was the first to legitimize rock drumming with his landmark book Realistic Rock. This revolutionary drum method book, which has sold more than 300,000 copies, was the first book about rock drumming actually written by a rock drummer. Realistic Rock is now available as a video. Currently, Carmine is participating in the Drum Wars show with his brother Vinny of Heaven and Hell.
